Compare Tecno Camon 15 Air & Infinix Hot 9

Released some weeks ago, the Infinix Hot 9 succeeds the Infinix Hot 8 lineup along the Infinix Hot series. While it is significantly better than the Hot 8 lite however, it is only a bit better than the Hot 8 Pro.

The Tecno Camon 15 Air on the other hand succeeds the Tecno Camon 12 along Tecno’s Camon series which is known significantly for the awesome cameras that comes with its phones. In this article, both the Camon 15 and the Hot 9 are compared to show which is better than the other.

Like many other Tecno and Infinix’s phones, both the Camon 15 Air and the Hot 9 took the same shape, size, structure, build and design. Of course, the colours are different. But all other things on the outside are the same.

Both phones also have their display running on the same technology – the IPS LCD. Their chips afford them enough to feature 700 x 1600 screen resolution and 266 pixels-per-inch pixels density. The HD display is obstructed only by the punch hole selfie camera space on both phones.

These phones do not feature the same chipset but both chips are from Mediatek and are in fact, close. While the Camon 15 Air sports Mediatek Helio P22 (12nm), the Hot 9 comes with the Helio A25. The former is powered by an 8 core Cortex-A53 CPU with 2.0 GHz clockspeed while the latter is being powered by an Octa-core (4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU.

Coming in 5 different memory combinations, the Infinix Hot 9 has more variants than the Camon 15 Air. The Tecno Camon 15 Air has just a single version which is 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM while the Hot 9’s variants are 32GB ROM + 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM + 3GB RAM, 64GB ROM + 3GB RAM, 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM + 4GB RAM. Both phones also provide support for microSDXC through a dedicated slot fixed on the sim plate.

For longer standby and functioning hours, both Tecno and Infinix fixed built in 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery in their phones. However, these may not spend the same hours even when used to equal extents. This depends partly on the chip’s power consumption and overall capacity.

The Camon 15 features 4 sensors as the main (rear) camera. These include 1 48MP wide lens which functions as the main lens, one 2MP macro for extra zoom, a 2MP depth sensor which affords it the bokeh effect; and one QVGA lens.

The Hot 9 features almost the same lens except that the main lens for 32GB versions is 13MP while it’s 16MP for 64GB and 128GB versions. Furthermore, both phones sport 8MP selfie cameras aided by a soft LED flash.

These phones have the same network technologies and the same connectivity modules. There’s GSM, HSPA and LTE for the networks while for the connectivity are WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP and LE, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB 2.0 with On-The-Go support. Exactly as found on both phones.

As of this day, neither the Hot 9 nor the Camon 15 Air is available in Nigeria. Hence the price unavailability. However, we do not expect these phones to cost very high. We put the price somewhere between NGN35,000 and NGN45,000 for both phones.

Is any of these phones better than the other?? Not really. The Camon 15 Air storage matches the Hot 9’s 3GB + 64GB version and although it has a somewhat better chip, this will be compensated in terms of price. You might want to judge based on the camera’s megapixels but that has little to do with photo quality.
