Infinix Hot 9 Lite vs Tecno Camon 15

The release of both the Hot 9 and the Camon 15 came as a surprise to many. That’s because the Infinix Hot 8 and its Pro were still “hot” in people’s heads when the Hot 9 was announced. The Camon 15 Lite on the other hand came immediately after Tecno Camon 12, leaving out 13 and 14. Anyway, we’ll today compare these devices in this article. Don’t forget to share.

Both smartphones are very similar. They’re exactly the same size and they both sport Infinity display with punch hole selfie camera space. Their frames and backs are made of plastic and front made of glass.

Both phones also feature the same LCD and almost the same display features; with just a little difference. Found these phones are 6.6 inches LCDs from IPS. Features include 720 x 1600 resolution and 266 ppi pixels density. There’s no difference at all. Except in the screen-to-body ratio which is very unimportant.

It’s no longer news that Tecno and Infinix are fond of MediaTek SoCs. More commonly known as chipsets. Both companies frequent MediaTek for Chips more than they do any other. Although we’ve seen them try Qualcomm but only a few times.

Both the Camon 15 and the Hot 9 sport MediaTek chipsets. Just different versions. The job of a chipset is to integrate the components of an electronic machine. This lets them take up less space, use less power and operate efficiently. The efficiency however depends on the chip’s capacity to handle these components.

The Tecno Camon 15 features Helio P22 (12nm) while the Infinix Hot 9 (12nm) features Helio A25 (12nm). The Helio P22 is more powerful than the Helio A25 but only just a bit. Feel free to check their specifications.

Both phones are powered by Octa-Core CPUs but are clocked at different speeds. For the Hot 9, we have 4 Cortex-A53 at 1.8 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz. For the Camon 15 however, all 8 cores are clocked at 2.0 GHz. And while the Hot 9’s GPU is topped at 600 MHz, the Camon 15’s GPU reaches a limit of 650 MHz.

When it comes to storage, Infinix has a knack for causing confusion. This is all as a result of their desire to serve every customer possible. For the Hot 9, there are 5 different variants. So you must be sure of the one you’re buying. The variants are:
32GB + 2GB RAM
32GB + 3GB RAM
64GB + 3GB RAM
64GB + 4GB RAM
128GB + 4GB RAM

In case you exhaust your internal storage, it comes with a dedicated slot for microSDXC. The capacity is unknown though. And in my opinion, I think You’ll thank yourself if you buy either the 32GB + 3GB RAM variant or the 64GB + 4GB RAM variant. Those are reasonable combinations. Unlike the rest.

Tecno on the other hand is not fond of having many variants of a single device. The Camon 15 is no exceptio and it comes in a single release of 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM. It also supports microSDXC through a dedicated slot.

Neither of these smartphones disappointed in terms of battery. Both the Tecno Camon 15 and the Infinix Hot 9 come with 5,000 mAh built-in Li-Po battery. While the fast charge tech is expected to be present on the Camon 15 however, there’s not much hope for the Hot 9; based on the fact that its predecessor – Hot 8 lite – didn’t have the tech installed.

Both smartphones come with a lineup of 4 lenses each for the main camera setup but the combo is rather different. And to some extent, you can be sure that the Hot 9 is way out of its league here.

The Camon 15 features a 48MP wide lens as the main sensor. This is the supported by a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a QVGA lens – for something about video. Its features include Quad-LED flash, panorama and HDR and it can record 1080 pixels video at 30 frames-per-second. It then sports a 16MP selfie camera.

The Hot 9 on the other hand comes with either a 13MP or 16MP (64GB & 128GB) wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP depth sensor and also a QVGA lens. Its LED flash is 3, not 4 like the Camon 15’s. It also records videos at 30 frames-per-second and it sports an 8MP selfie camera.

Both the Camon 15 and the Hot 9 share the same network technologies and connection modules. They are GSM, HSPA and 4G LTE for networks and WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSb 2.0 for connectivity.

Now that we’ve seen everything that makes up each of these phones, we should go to what it would take for you to get one them for yourself. That is, the price.

These smartphones are low-end devices and as such cannot be too expensive. With the Hot 9 having multiple variants, the starting price should be around NGN35,000 for the lowest variant which is 2GB RAM + 32GB ROM and the highest variant which is 128GB ROM + 2GB RAM could go as high as NGN55,000 or NGN60,000.

The Camon 15 on the other hand is expected to be anywhere between NGN50,000 to NGN60,000 under normal circumstances.

Based on the features above, it is evident that both phones fall under the same category. They are low-end smartphones; otherwise known as budget devices. The fact however, that the Tecno Camon 15 may be a better option if it’s not very expensive, is undisputed.
