Every smartphone company has at least one low tier device line up, one medium tier lineup, one line up dedicated to camera, one for gaming and/or one flagship line up. For Infinix, the Note series is not their flagship lineup but instead is dedicated to hosting powerful devices made for gaming.
Back in April, Infinix announced the Infinix Note 7 and Infinix Note 7 Lite which are scheduled for release this month (May). Undoubtedly, some differences must exist between these devices which set one apart from the other. In this article, both phones are compared side by side to see which one makes a better smartphone.

Design and Display
The Infinix Note 7 and the Note 7 Lite share the same frontal and frame design but definitely different rear designs. While the Note 7 Lite shares absolute the same design with the Tecno Camon 15 Lite and Infinix S5 – a punch hole selfie camera space to the top-left on the face and an array of 4 camera lenses to the top-left on the rear with rear-mounted fingerprint scanner – the Note 7’s rear design takes a twist we’ve never seen on Infinix phones.
The Infinix Note 7’s rear camera sensors and LED flash are seated on a disk and the disk is situated right on the spot where the fingerprint scanner is commonly known to occupy. Thereby changing the fingerprint scanner’s location – it is now mounted on the right-hand side of the phone.
Probably the most obvious difference in their display is the size; and this is actually because of the difference in their sizes.
While the Note 7 Lite features a 6.6 inches IPS LCD with 720 x 1600 resolution and 266 pixels per inch pixels density, the Note 7 comes with a bigger 6.95 inches IPS LCD but with almost the same resolution of 720 x 1640 and lower pixels density of 258 pixels per inch.

Platform, Storage & Battery
Most of the times, Infinix either make little changes or no change at all to the platform on which related devices run but they definitely make changes to the storage. For the Note 7 Lite and Note 7, Infinix settled to set both phones on MediaTek’s chipset – the Helio G70 (12nm). This chipset is then powered by Octa-Core CPUs from ARM: 2x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 and 6x 1.7GHz Cortex-A55. Exactly as found on both phones.
While the Infinix Note 7 comes in 3 different memory combo which are 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM + 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM + 6GB RAM, the Infinix Note 7 Lite on the other hand comes in 2 different memory combos which are 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM + 4GB RAM.
Honestly, I don’t really see any sense here. Since both variants also exist in the Note 7.
Another among the many things these phones have in common is the battery capacity. Both the Note 7 and the Note 7 Lite sport 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery. This capacity is also expected of the coming Note 7 device(s). However, the Note 7 has 18W fast charge technology installed while the Note 7 Lite comes with 10W fast charge.
Camera, Comms & Network
Truly the camera positioning and arrangement in these phones gave the impression that one might differ from the other. However, such is not the case. Both phones feature 48 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, PDAF, 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro), 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) and QVGA or 2 MP, f/1.8, (dedicated video camera) – 128/6 model only.
For the selfie camera though, the Note 7 sports a 16 mega pixels camera while the Note 7 Lite sports an 8 mega pixels camera.
For the comms and network too, there’s no difference at all. Both phones feature GSM, HSPA and LTE networks with same bands and there’s WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB 2.0 with On-The-Go support.
Price in Nigeria
Neither of these phones has been released in Nigeria yet. However, our guess puts the Infinix Note 7 between #55,000 to #60,000 and the Note 7 Lite between #50,000 to #55,000. The actual prices will be known sooner than later.
Conclusion
Obviously, the major difference between these phones is the size. Still, we cannot overlook the differences seen in the camera, fast charge and storage features. The Infinix Note 7 is no doubt better than the Infinix Note 7 Lite.
