Infinix S5 vs Tecno Camon 12 Comparison

If you’re out to get a beautiful and averagely efficient smartphone, then this article is definitely for you. The Infinix S5 vs Tecno Camon 12 comparison is an article I’m very pleased to write because it’s one of those articles where the winner is clear and easily determined.

Do not forget that Tecno and Infinix probably own the largest shares in the Nigerian smartphone market. That’s mainly because of the nature of their products – not the performance or efficiency but their prices. They are specialists in making entry-level to mid-range devices.

Is the S5 better than the Camon 12 or is it the other way round? Stay with me a few minutes more and you’ll get all the information you need about them.

Infinix S5

The S series from infinix actually got really popular after the release of the Infinix S4 which happens to be one of the first 6 inches+ smartphones and definitely the first from Infinix to feature the teardrop notch alongside Infinix Smart 3 plus in April 2019.

The Infinix S5 brought with it “newer vibes and levels” as it drops the teardrop notch for a punch hole and really tiny bezels instead. This smartphone is 6.6 inches and is made of glass and plastic build. It has 4 lenses attached to the rear in a vertical line up and a single selfie camera on the display.

The display is based on IPS technology. It has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a density of 270 pixels per inch. You won’t find any protective glass in the box. You’ll have to get that by yourself. It is not waterproof, not dustproof and has no coating whatsoever. The display however, is averagely impressive.

Infinix patronised one of the most popular chip manufacturer in the industry during this phone’s making. That’s none other than MediaTek. We’re treated to the MediaTek Helio P22. A low mid-range chip which features an Octa-core (2.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and PowerVR GE8320 GPU with 650 MHz processing speed.

The S5 sports a 4,000 mAh built-in Li-Polymer battery which charges fairly fast. Thanks to Infinix’s fast charge and a powerful factory made charger. There are 2 variants of this phone. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version and the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version. The memory card slot supports only up to 128GB.

Tecno Camon 12

Tecno’s Camon series has always been a popular one since inception. The phones found in this series are known for elegance and performance but most importantly, they’re known for their cameras.

Camon 12

The Tecno Camon 12 is a little bit smaller than the S5 as it comes only as a 6.52 device; however, the difference isn’t much of a big deal. While the Camon 12 is a beautiful smartphone, it features the teardrop notch which many consider an old design. At the time of release though, such was not the case.

Like its opponent, this phone comes in a body made of glass and plastic. The IPS LCD has a total resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a density of 269 pixels per inch. It doesn’t come with a glass protection too. It is not waterproof and neither is dustproof. Also, it is fairly impressive.

Tecno refuses to look far away while picking a chip for this phone. Instead, they furthered business with an existing partner – MediaTek. Most interestingly though, it sports the Helio P22 as well. That means you also get an Octa-core (2.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and PowerVR GE8320 GPU with 650 MHz processing speed.

The Camon 12 also features a built-in 4,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery. If you’re familiar with Camon phones, you’d know this phone definitely features a fast charge tech. There’s only one version of the Camon 12 – 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM. It supports memory expansion up to 128GB by means of an sdCard.

The ones at the rear include a 16MP wide main lens, a 2MP depth sensor and one 8MP telephoto and macro lens. The main camera brings along a quad-LED flash while the front camera which is 16MP brings a soft flash.

Like many other phones of its time, the Camon 12 features Android 9 (Pie) and being a Tecno phone, the User Interface (UI) is handled by HiOS 5.5. This phone costs NGN58,000 in Nigeria at the time of writing this article. Check more deals with the links below.

Infinix S5 vs Tecno Camon 12: Verdict.

We’ve seen everything that makes up the Camon 12 and the S5 and well, they’re pretty much the same phones in different bodies. True, the Tecno phone is NGN10,000 cheaper than the one from Infinix, that’s not without a reason. The S5 is bigger, sports 4 rear cameras and 32MP front camera. The question is whether the excuse is viable or not.

Based on personal preference and price consideration, I’d pick the Camon 12 as the winner. I don’t think 0.8″ and a lens which does pretty much nothing is worth spending an extra 10k on. The selfie camera is a big deal but I can do with 16MP. If you’re going for the S5, you’re also paying for the Infinity-O display efizzy. It all boils down to personal preference.

Now, you know there’s no difference between the Tecno Camon 12 and the Infinix S5 phones. If you love this article, please share it across your social media timelines. Thank you.
