Tecno Camon 15 Premier and Infinix Note 7 Comparison

Tecno Camon 15 Premier and Infinix Note 7 comparison is a very fair one any way you might turn it. Both the Camon 15 Premier and the Note 7 are new arrivals from Tecno and Infinix respectively. The Note 7 phones succeed the Note 6 phones while the Camon 15 phones succeed the Camon 12 phones.

This article is targeted at clearing off the advert lies, weeding the off the less important features and compare the ones that actually matter. Those ones that matter are none other than the display, platform, battery, camera, storage, networks and of course, we must talk about the designs.

Tecno Camon 15 Premier

On one side of the ring, we have the Tecno Camon 15 premier. Flexing muscles and showing off to the crowd. Ready to take on whatever was thrown at him. People marveled at his features as he was been praised thus:

The Camon 15 Premier is the best from the folks at Tecno at the moment and you can be sure it’s a good one. It is 6.6 inches tall from top to base. The front is made of glass while the body and frame are made of plastic. The camera array is perfectly aligned to the top-left corner and it looks great.

The phone’s face is an ocean of uninterrupted glass. No punch hole or teardrop anywhere. Just glass. This is called the perfect view display and the camon 15 is the first from Tecno to feature it. Where then is the Selfie camera located? It’s right umder the display and only comes out when it’s needed. Tush, right?

This phone features more than a smooth face, the display is also one of the best from Tecno. At 1080 x 2340 and featuring 390 pixels per inch, the camon 15 premier offers you a peak into a higher level of graphical rendition. That display really isn’t cheap.

The body is not the best thing about this phone. That would be the things under the hood. They’re the ones that matter the most. Running on the Camon 15 Premier is the Mediatek Helio P35 chipset which features an 8 core (4×2.35 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU from ARM and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. You also get the latest version of Android which is Android 10.0

The powerhouse is a single 4,000 mAh built-in Li-Polymer battery. There is a single model of this phone and it features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The memory is further expandable by use of a microSDXC through a dedicated slot.

The Camon 15 got no less than 4 lenses as the rear camera setup and it includes a 64MP wide lens, a 5MP ultra-wide lens for macro shots, 2MP depth sensor and a fourth little lens mostly referred to as a QVGA.

This smartphone supports 2 nano sim cards through dedicated slots. It’s network technology are 2G, 3G and 4G. There’s microUSB 2.0 at the base and it’s nice. You can get this phone in 2 different colours which are Ice Jadeite and Opal White.

Enough about the Tecno phone for now. Let’s see the one from Infinix.

Infinix Note 7

Standing on the other side of the ring is the smartphone from Infinix – The Note 7. Standing at not less than 6.95 inches, this phone is noticeably larger than the Camon 15 premier. Like its opponent, this phone is comes in a plastic plus glass body. The plastic is specially designed and has the premium feel as well.

Unlike the Camon phone, the Note 7 sport an Infinity display. This means there’s an interruption to the frontal glass. In this case, a punch hole to the tiop-left which houses the selfie camera.

on this phablet, we have the IPS display featured on its counterpart. However, the display specs are a bit different. And it’s not only the size. The Note 7 has a resolution of 720 x 1640 despite its size and 258 pixels per inch density.

Under the hood, we found a MediaTek chip too. Though it’s different from the one found on the Camon. The Note 7 sports Mediatek Helio G70 (12 nm). The chip features an Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and Mali-G52 2EEMC2. MediaTek’s chips are a number’s game. The higher, the better.

This smartphone is powered an in-built 5,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery and it features an 18W fast charge tech as well. Infinix is fond of producing phones in multiple variants and the Note 7 shows it too. There are 3 variants which are 64GB + 4GB RAM, 128GB + 4GB RAM and 128GB + 6GB RAM. The memory is also expandable by use of a microSDXC through a dedicated slot.

The Note 7 features 4 rear cameras too. The arrangement is the intriguing part. The rear cameras are arranged exactly the way they are found on the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro. The setup consists of a 48MP wide lens, 2MP ultra-wide lens for macro shots, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP video dedicated camera.

The lenses are situated on a disk at the center-top area. The place commonly identified with fingerprint sensor. On this disk, the cameras are arranged into 2 rows and 2 columns. Parallel to one another. Right under them sits the Quad-LED flash. The front camera is 16MP and also brings a flash.

This Note 7 supports 2 nano sim cards through dedicated slots. It’s network technology are 2G, 3G and 4G. There’s microUSB 2.0 at the base and it’s nice. You can get this phone in 3 different colours which are Forest Green, Aether Black and Bolivia Blue.

The Infinix Note costs between NGN70K to NGN90k in Nigeria. All its variants fall in that price range.

Though these phones make a good comparison. It’s not any less difficult to pick one single winner. That’s because each person may have to choose based on their needs. Personally, I’ll base my choice on Chip and CPU. For that, the Note 7 wins. The higher, the better.

However, the Camon 15 premier has a better display. It features a higher resolution and pixel density. The main camera is 64MP. The macro lens is 5MP. The front camera also is 32MP. But the CPU and chip are below my expectations.

The Note 7, though sporting a better CPU and chip has its shortcomings. It sports a 16MP selfie cam. The main camera is 48MP. The display is also not as great.

The question now though, is “Can you buy the Camon 15 Premier at NGN105k”? In my opinion, it is too expensive. In a few days time, Both of these phones will be compared to another one in the 100k price range from Xiaomi or Huawei or both.
