It’s been a long time since we reviewed an Umidigi smartphone on this blog, but here’s the Umidigi A11 Pro Max review. This really did catch our attention when it was released earlier in August 2021.
If you’re familiar with Umidigi’s phones, you’ll know that the Umidigi A11 Pro Max is an upgrade to the Umidigi A11 which debuted back in May. On a closer look, the A11 Pro Max is indeed an upgrade to its predecessor. Read the smartphone’s review below.

Umidigi A11 Pro Max Review
The Umidigi A11 Pro Max is one of Umidigi’s flagship devices. Though if we’re to put it up against flagships from industry behemoths like Samsung, Apple, or Xiaomi, the A11 Pro Max may find itself out of its league.
Talking of appearance, the Umidigi A11 Pro Max is a beauty to behold. It sports a flat-edged metal frame the likes of which is found on the iPhone 12 release and a few other phones. I don’t know who stole from who, but I know I’ve seen that edge on a few other phones before this one.
Another premium feature on this device is the AG Mate glass which covers the phone’s rear and the USB Type-C port at the phone’s base. Right next to the Type-C port is the 3.5mm jack for earphones, and not far from that is the speaker outlet.
A protruding platform on the phone’s rear at the top-left corner holds the camera lenses. This comes with its woes since the glass protecting the lenses will crack in the event of a fall. However, this design does lend the smartphone some beauty, and we think they got that from the Galaxy S20.
The Umidigi A11 Pro Max has its power and volume buttons at the right-hand side. These buttons are made of metal, and the power button doubles as the fingerprint sensor. It also has an independent navigation button at the left-hand side. This button is used to access the infrared thermometer, push-to-talk and other frequently used apps.
Another pleasing feature on this phone is the Infinity-O display with a centralized selfie camera which is reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy S20 and other Samsung smartphones.
Moving on from the body and build to the internal features, the A11 Pro Max comes with a “gaming processor” by MediaTek — precisely the Helio G80. This is a processor we’re fairly familiar with. It’s on the Tecno Spark 7 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy M22, the Xiaomi Poco M2 Reloaded, the Infinix Note 8, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 and many other smartphones. While this is not the best MediaTek processor around, it fits for the phone’s price range.
Even though we haven’t had the chance to test them out, we’re pretty confident that the Sony 48MP Triple rear-camera setup and the Sony 24MP selfie camera will deliver high-quality crisp and clear images. For comparison, iPhones and Samsung Galaxies often sport Sony cameras. The infrared thermometer may also come in handy.
With this smartphone, there are two variants — 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM. Both variants come with 128GB of internal storage, and there’s also a dedicated SD card slot which supports up to 256GB on the sim plate if you have need for expansion.
It goes without saying that this phone is 4G enabled. I doubt smartphones that don’t support 4G are still in production. The last one from Infinix was the Hot 7 lite, the last one from Tecno was the Spark 3, and companies like Samsung, HTC, Gionee, and Apple have been producing 4G-enabled phones as far back as 2014 or earlier.
The Umidigi A11 Pro Max features a 5,150 mAh in-built battery that’s designed to last long even in heavy usage. And once the battery runs low, you can quickly top it up using the 18W charger supplied with the phone.
The phone comes in either of two colors which are Frost Grey or Mist Blue.
