The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is the latest device from the Redmi series. Succeeding the Redmi 8. A 6.22 inches device from Xiaomi back in 2019 which features Qualcomm’s chip. At a glance, both phones seem to look alike but when looked at closely, you’d realize that they’re not so similar after all. If not anything, the difference in their sizes is pretty obvious.
The Infinix Note 7 is not strictly the latest smartphone from the Note series; in fact, it is the lesser of a pair. Along with the Note 7 lite, this smartphone succeeds the Note 6 smartphone – a 6.01 inches smartphone with the features of an entry-level device.
The Xiaomi Redmi 9 vs Infinix Note 7 comparison which I aim to handle objectively in this article is inspired by the number of similarities found in them. Like both phones sporting MediaTek’s chip, featuring quad rear cameras etc.
The next segment is best viewed in desktop mode. In case you’re on mobile, simply select ‘menu’ – It is mostly found at the upper right corner. Look for a box which says ‘desktop view’ or something along that line and select it. The page should reload and you’re set. Else, simply skip the specifications and move on with the article.

From the info above, the differences in these phones are pretty obvious for anyone to see. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 features a better display resolution. Despite the Note 7 being the bigger device. It’s also lighter at 198g; though you may not notice this.
Both smartphones feature Android 10 but each comes with a different skin. That’s none of our business for now though. The interesting bit is that the Redmi 9 sports a better SoC: the MediaTek Helio G80 which is faster than the Helio G70 found on the Infinix Note.
Well, the Helio G80 is an upgrade to the G70, no doubt. They both feature Octa-Core CPUs; in fact, they integrate the same cores: Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55. The difference is actually in the clock speeds. The A55 cores speed for the G80 is 100MHz higher and the GPU is also 130MHz higher. Hence, faster processing for both activities and graphics.
The next difference is found in the camera setup. In total, the Xiaomi smartphone features 5 cameras. one at the front and 4 at the back. On the other hand, the Infinix’s smartphone has either 3 rear cameras or 4; depending on the version you can afford.
Yes, the megapixels are distant in figures; the Infinix Note 7 having the upper hand. While that may or may not affect the photo quality, I’d like to point out the fact that the Redmi 9 has an ultrawide lens and a better macro lens. Megapixels may not matter for the main lens but it matters for the macro lens.
The Infinix Note 7 sports a 16MP selfie camera while the Xiaomi Redmi 9 comes with 8MP. The higher the megapixel, the farther the distance a camera can capture. Leaving out the megapixels though, these phones have the same hardware processing each shot. So there’s a chance their photo qualities are the same or right behind one another.
Now to the Price. The Note 7 is available in Nigeria and the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM version goes for about NGN88,000 while the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM costs around NGN75,000.
The Redmi 9 on the other hand isn’t very easy to find in Nigeria. You can, however, get any of the versions on Amazon or Banggood. Amazon prices (from 3GB to 4GB) are USD155 and USD170. The 6GB version isn’t on Amazon at the moment.
On Banggood, you can get all version at the following prices: USD124, USD150 and USD229 respectively. That’s from 3GB to 6GB versions.
Exchanged at NGN425 per USD, these prices are NGN65,875 and NGN72,250 for Amazon prices and NGN52,700, NGN63,750 and NGN97,325 respectively.
Note that the Naira values stated above are subject to exchange rates. Also, buying the Redmi 9 from a foreign website means there will be other fees to pay. The main one being the shipping fee.
